Time-Resolved Atomic Imaging of 3D Active-Site by Micro-Photoelectron Holography
The purpose on this research is to perform
photoelectron holography measurements for a variety of materials, in which
impurity sites of dopants, active-sites of catalysis, and local structures of
interfaces fulfil their important functions. Usually, such active-site does not
exist on periodic sites, therefore, conventional diffraction methods do not
work for determining their local atomic structures. The photoelectron
holography technique is one of the best experimental technique to realize for
imaging their three dimensional structures.
In this project, we will realize the followings.
[TARGET 1] Distinguished imaging of active-sites
depending on chemical bonding conditions by using high-energy resolution
apparatus.
We
realize site-specific imaging of dopants or catalysts using sub-eV scale
binding energy difference in photoelectron spectra. Both structural and
electronic states information for “3D active-site” will be obtained.
[TARGET 2] Pinpoint analysis by using micron-size beam.
We
design micron-size synchrotron radiation beam at the soft X-ray beamline at
SPring-8. Combination of the micro-beam with the photoelectron holography
method enable us to image “3D-active-site” in sub-10 mm region for a variety of
samples.
[TARGET 3] Time-resolved dynamical analysis under
applying outer field.
We
realize pump & probe photoelectron holography methods in sub-ns region. The
investigation for realistic device materials in operand with magnetic, electric
pulses is performed.
